Number 1 Song a Thought Away for Bob Findlay
Bob Findlays recently released single, A Thought Away, has rocketed to number 1 on numerous commercial and internet radio stations worldwide. The song is a departure from his normal style which has been labelled by some as swagger-rock. His music has been likened to, in varying degrees, to The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Warren Zevon, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Lou Reed. Findlay was somewhat surprised at both the popularity of the song and how quickly it raced up the charts. He told me that the song was written it rather quickly. ?It?s 100% fact, so that made it pretty easy to write.? Regular listeners of Findlays music may be thrown by the first 30 seconds of the song which is extremely minimalist. The tempo remains the same throughout the song while the dynamics ebb and flow seamlessly maximising the impact of the genuinely deep lyrical content. The personal Zakk Wylde guitars nature of A Thought Away further adds to the songs impact. When asked about what the song was about Findlay was rather elusive, saying, ??.it?s about my best pal.? I asked him what inspired the song he said, ?It was just in me?..and now must be the time that it was meant to come out of me.? I questioned Findlay further on this point and he said that in order for a song to exist that it must come from within. ?Sometimes the song?s in there??.other times it can be brought in, whether it be by imagination, life experience and the likes. When asked whether the success of A Thought Away would alter his musical direction, Findlay laughed and said, ?I don?t have a musical direction??and don?t intend to have one.? So for fans of Bob Findlays music there may well be more surprises around the corner. For further information about Bob Findlay visit http://scotsbob.webs.
